Senior Year has been the best year yet! Between thriving in my final fashion classes, welcoming new members into my sorority, meeting the new members of Sigma Chi, and so much more, I haven't had time to sit down and blog! Keep reading for an update of Ball State's Homecoming Royalty!
Last semester, Sigma Chi nominated me to be their Homecoming Queen candidate. I didn't think anything of it, but I gladly accepted the nomination! I almost forgot about it but towards the end of September, BSU Homecoming had their royalty voting. Ball State students could select 3 queen and 3 king candidates from the nominees. I campaigned amongst my sorority sisters and Sigma Chi brothers, but didn't think anything would come of it.
On September 26th, BSU Homecoming hosted their Homecoming Royalty Fashion Show. During the show, each king/queen candidate was introduced to the audience. The theme of this year's homecoming is "around the world" so we had to choose costumes that fit the theme. My boyfriend and I decided to represent Canada because both of our organizations have chapters in Canada.

At the end of the show, the top 10 queen and top 10 king candidates were announced. 9 queens had been announced and 10 kings had been announced, and I figured I didn't make it. However, the 10th queen candidate to be announced was myself! I was shocked and not expecting it at all. I felt very honored that amongst so many amazing candidates, BSU students selected myself to represent them.
The next few weeks will consist of interviews and other events so that the BSU Homecoming committee and other judges can select the 2017 BSU Homecoming King and Queen. Unfortunately, I'm unable to attend the events because I'm supporting Sigma Chi's Derby Days during it. However, I feel so blessed to have had this opportunity and I look forward to meeting Ball State's 2017 Homecoming Court!
