Merry Christmas everyone!! Being in the Holiday spirit, I figured I would write a post about what I'm thankful for this season.
What I'm thankful for today:
- Family. No matter what happens in life, they're always there. I have the best support system. Whether it's supporting me in school or being my cheerleader during job interviews, my family has always been there for me. I wouldn't be where I am today nor would I be who I am today if it weren't for them.
- Scobey. You might be wondering what this is. It's actually my kitten that I adopted in October! I'm a new cat mom and it's been the best experience. Having a kitten rely on me 24/7 has taught me a lot about myself and it's helped me grow up a lot the past few months. It's stressful at times, but he's one of the biggest blessings this year has brought me.
- Friends. I've never had a lifelong friendship with anyone and that's something that I've always wanted. While I'm not a perfect person, I appreciate all of my current friends that have stuck it out with me. I couldn't do life without the vent sessions, Puerta's dates, Mug Clubs, and so much more.
- My boyfriend. Jake is my best friend and my boyfriend all in one, so I get the best of both worlds. He puts up with a lot and I couldn't be more thankful that he came into my life over two years ago. Jake listens to me when I vent, supports me when I doubt myself, encourages me to follow my dreams, and takes me out when he knows I need to have fun. He's my favorite person and I'm so glad I was able to spend part of this Holiday with him!
- My sorority. Alpha Omicron Pi has given me the friends that I didn't know I needed. During some difficult moments this year, these girls have had my back and stood by my side. I'm extremely grateful for my Greek fam- Kylie, Lindsey, and Kelly for keeping me young and reminding me why I fell in love with AOII in the first place. Special shoutout to Kylie for taking me into her home for the next few months because of some personal issues- I love you more than you know!!
- My education. I'm constantly reminded that not everyone is as lucky as me to attend a four year university that they love. Ball State has been my home since August 2014 and I'm so sad that I only have a few more months before I graduate. However, earning my Bachelor's degree has been the most rewarding experience to date. I'm thankful for my major (fashion merchandising), my professors (for making me work my booty off), and my study habits (for always landing me on the Dean's List).
- My health. I read a story on Twitter last night about a girl my age who passed away from cancer. I read this from her boyfriend's account and spent a solid ten minutes crying over this loss- even though I don't know any of them. I'm so thankful that myself, my friends, and my family are healthy because I don't know how I would handle any other situation. To everyone who is struggling with a health issue or a loss this season, I am so sorry and will keep you in my thoughts.
- My life. This sounds very broad, but it's true. I'm thankful to wake up every single day and have a roof over my head, food in my belly, and people who love me. Although I may complain about money or stress, I love everything about this crazy life of mine and wouldn't change it for the world.
Don't forget about what this Holiday is really for. I hope that you all have a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
