Here's my guide to learning valuable lessons.
- Accept your flaws: The sooner that you accept your flaws, the better. Nobody is perfect so don't listen to anyone who says that they are perfect. So what if you don't have perfectly arched eyebrows or if your nose is a little too big? If you acknowledge and accept your flaws, then no one can upset you by pointing them out. Remember, people can only hurt you as much as you let them.
- Date the guy who seems totally wrong for you: Every girl thinks that they have a "type." Well, I think that you should venture away from your "type" just once and date a guy who is totally wrong for you. If you like quiet and sweet guys, you should try dating a social guy who enjoys having a good time. I'm grateful I dated the funny guy because I learned how to have fun in a relationship. You never know, the guy that you think is not your "type" might end up being "the one." Give him a chance!
- It's normal to lose friends along the way: Not all of your friends are going to stay with you throughout the crazy journey of life. This is normal, and even though it might hurt when you lose your best friend from high school, it will be okay. You have years and years to make new friends and you need to find people who contribute to your happiness. If your friend was truly meant to be in your life, they'll come back later down the road.
- Keep your standards high and don't apologize for it: I thought I knew my standards until I dated "Mr. Wrong." Ladies- you should never lower your standards for a guy. If a boy treats you wrong, he doesn't deserve your time, money, or attention. It might hurt to let him go, but you need to remember what's best for you. A man should want to rise up and be the best version of himself for you. If he doesn't, then move on because you are beautiful and deserve the respect that someone else will give you.
- Learn from your mistakes: You're human, you are going to make mistakes. The key is to learn and grow from these mistakes. Don't make the same mistake twice, because then it's considered to be a "choice." Save yourself the headache and learn from your mistake the first time. And don't be too hard on yourself because you are doing the best that you can.
