As soon as I was nominated for the 2017-2019 International Sweetheart position, I began my research. I reached out to the current International Sweetheart, Kelsey Maggard, and I learned everything I could about what this position requires and what it means to be the International Sweetheart of Sigma Chi. If elected to be the next International Sweetheart, I would have the opportunity to travel to Sigma Chi chapters in the US and Canada to meet the undergraduates, assist them in anything their chapter needs, and educate them on my platforms; the Huntsman Cancer Institute and domestic violence prevention. I would act as the Fraternity's spokeswoman and speak at their leadership conferences throughout the two years.
This opportunity is absolutely incredible and I still feel like I'm dreaming. The other two candidates are outstanding individuals and I'm honored to associated with such accomplished women. The previous 34 International Sweethearts have built the position into an amazing role and I would love to continue their legacy.
This June, I will fly to Providence, Rhode Island to attend Sigma Chi's 2017 Grand Chapter. I will meet many influential alumni and active brothers while I attend several of the events. I'm so excited for this opportunity and I can't wait to fall in love with Sigma Chi even more than I already have. While I'm at Grand Chapter, the undergraduates will vote for who they want to represent them as the next International Sweetheart. Whatever the outcome is, I will be grateful. This has already been such a blessing and I feel so special to have even made it as a Top Three finalist. I'm very thankful to my Epsilon Omega men as well as the Sigma Chi International Sweetheart Selection Committee.
Check back in June- I'll make sure to update you throughout the entire week of Grand Chapter!
