Dear Little,
I couldn't believe it when you told me that you were transferring.
I thought you were just thinking out loud and that you would never ever leave Ball State. But you officially are, and I want you to know how happy I am for you.
Yes, I am going to miss you LIKE CRAZY. It won't be the same when I return in January and you stay home in Illinois. I won't have someone to ask on dinner dates or yell "LITTLE" at across campus when I see you. But, I know you need to do what is best for you. After all, it isn't about the name of the school on your diploma when you graduate. It's about being happy. And I know you aren't happy here and that it's nothing anyone can change. And if your heart and happiness lies closer to home, then I'm so glad that you made the choice that you did.
In the short time that I've known you, I've grown to love you. You're one of the most honest and down-to-earth girls that I've ever met and I'll truly miss having someone around who isn't afraid to say the truth. Thank you for being the BEST little. You taught me the true meaning of being a Big Sis, and I'll always be grateful for that. You have a big heart, and I know you'll do great things at your future school.
I'll always wonder what it could've been like- having you stay. All of the memories that would have been made, all of the funny stories we would someday tell our kids. But I wouldn't want you to have to wonder what it would've been like to be somewhere where you felt like you belonged. And I hope that you find that place- whether it's at home or at another university.
I'm so sad to see you move on, but it's so hard not to be happy for you. I know that transferring schools was a tough decision and that it will require a lot of independence and bravery- and I'm SO proud of you. You know what you want, and people who know what they want and pursue it always go very far in life, no doubt. I look forward to hearing about your new adventure and seeing you when you come back to visit!
So here's to you and here's to me. No matter the distance, big & little we'll always be.
