Last week was my senior year spring break! I had so much fun and wanted to share some of what I did on the blog this week. Keep reading to find out what I did all week!
Full disclosure- I had originally planned on going to Mexico for my last college spring break, but life happened. I had to recently start paying TWO rents and because it was an unexpected cost, I didn't build that into my budget. So unfortunately my Mexico savings went towards my current house, but I'm not complaining!
Instead of going somewhere tropical for break, my boyfriend Jake and I decided to head home and save some money. Luckily, home for me is a short train ride from downtown Chicago! We decided to purchase City Passes and be tourists for the week. If you haven't heard of a City Pass- check out the website here! It's a great way to visit cities like Chicago, New York, San Francisco, and so many more while saving money.
The first place we visited was the Shedd Aquarium. I haven't been here since I was on an elementary school field trip, so it's been quite some time. It was so cool to see the different fish, penguins, sharks, dolphins, and so much more. If you're ever bored in Chicago, I suggest going here. It's like you step foot into a whole new world!

That same day, Jake and I visited the Field Museum. I never appreciated museums until this past year and now I love them so much! The Field Museum was full of interesting artifacts and exhibits. My personal favorite was the dinosaur exhibit. It's so crazy to me that dinosaurs shared this Earth with us at one point!
The next day, Jake and I went to the 360 Chicago Observation Deck on the 94th floor of the John Hancock center. I've actually never heard of this place before and was excited to see it. The elevator ride was crazy because your ears would pop on the way up since it's so high up! The observation deck is really cool because you're surrounded by glass windows and there's even a bar inside. We met up with two friends from school and hung out while enjoying the view.
We continued to face our fear of heights by going up to the SkyDeck. The SkyDeck is located on the 103rd floor of the Willis Tower (I still call it the Sears Tower). It's similar to the 360 observation deck except you have the option to step out into glass boxes and see the city underneath your feet (literally)! It was super scary but the view was so worth it.
The last touristy thing we did over break was visit the Art Institute! I love art museums because there's always something to learn.
Overall, Jake and I had a great week in the city! We ate a lot of great food, shared some delicious drinks, and had a lot of fun together. I'm thankful to have such a great boyfriend to travel and explore new places with.
We decided that we'll visit somewhere tropical once we both start our big kid jobs and have actual salaries. I can't wait for that day but until then, I'm going to make the most out of being a poor college student!
